Travel and Accomodation

Getting to Graz:

By Train

You can book ÖBB night trains here:

https://www.nightjet.com

By Plane

Graz has its own airport. However, most (and often cheaper) flight connections go through Vienna.

The journey from Vienna Airport to Graz takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes to 3 hours using the numerous ÖBB train connections (https://www.oebb.at). There are both direct Railjet connections and connections requiring a transfer in Vienna.

Alternatively, the Flixbus X96 takes you directly from Vienna Airport to Graz in about 2 hours and 35 minutes. The central stop in Graz is called “Girardigasse” and is located right next to the Graz Opera House.

Rail&Fly offers are also available:

https://www.oebb.at/de/regionale-angebote/ueberregionale-angebote/anreise-zum-flughafen/railandfly

We advise against purchasing CAT (City Airport Train) tickets, which are advertised at Vienna Airport. You can reach Vienna’s city center just a few minutes later—and at a significantly lower cost—by taking the regular ÖBB trains, which also brings you to the correct train station for the train to Graz.

Staying in Graz:

Our speakers will be accommodated at Motel One Graz, which we also recommend to conference participants.

Additional accommodation options in the area can be found on the Graz Tourism website.

These are the areas we recommend; the venue is the yellow spot.

Getting around in Graz:

The easiest way to get from the city center to the conference venue is by taking bus line 31 toward the university (from “Jakominiplatz” to “Graz Uni/Mensa (Schubertstraße)”).

You can find schedules and tickets for Graz Linien here:

https://www.holding-graz.at/de/mobilitaet (or in the GrazMobil app).

A one-hour ticket costs €3.20, a 24-hour ticket €7.00 and the weekly ticket €20.10. You can use the tram (“Bim”) for free on a short section in the city center:

https://www.holding-graz.at/de/mobilitaet/altstadtbim

Tickets are available at vending machines on buses and trams, at select stops, and in the app.

From the main train station, you can also take bus line 63 to the “Graz Uni/Mensa (Schubertstraße)” stop. To reach the city center from the main train station, take any tram line heading toward the city center to the “Jakominiplatz” stop.
